Take The Meaning Out Of Symptoms
I have been trying to distill down the essence of neuroplastic symptoms, to make the understanding and approach more simple. It’s easy to get caught up in complexity of what’s happening in the brain and nervous system and all the possible reasons why one has symptoms. But if we could boil it all down, what it comes down to is stress. When you have active neuroplastic symptoms, it means the brain and nervous system are in a state of stress activation.
Hence, the treatment is really about reducing stress. What I tell patients is that it doesn’t matter what you’re stressing about, what matters is the stress itself. Stress has effects on the body and one of them we see are neuroplastic symptoms. In this video, I talk about removing one level of stress, and that is any stress about the symptoms. When we can take any negative meaning out of the symptoms, we take down some stress. For some people, they stress alot about the symptoms. This stress just fuels more symptom intensity or causes symptoms to persist. Remember, neuroplastic symptoms ARE symptoms of stress, so our goal is to reduce stress about them. The symptoms just mean we’re in some state of stress, so if we can take stress down around the symptoms, we are reducing the very thing that causes and sustains the symptoms.
