The Way You Attend Is The Way Into Or Out Of Symptoms
How you attend to neuroplastic symptoms can be a powerful mediator. Either increasing or reducing symptoms. This is because attention is a brain mechanism. When one attends to symptoms from a perception of threat and danger, one is likely attending from hypervigilance. Hypervigilance is a real thing that has been shown to not only amplify symptom intensity, but to also predict the transition from sub-acute symptoms to chronic symptoms. It’s something we want to reduce by shifting our attention from a vigilant lens to a relaxed lens that shows safety.
Today I go over this in the video below. If you would like to learn more about shifting attention in ways to reduce threat and danger at the brain level, I’m running a class on this now for 4 weeks in April. You can sign-up if you’re interested. The classes are also recorded so you can watch at anytime if you can’t make them live.
